"Workshop on Severe Allergy of vaccination and How to Deal With it"
The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) organized a workshop on Severe Allergy of vaccination and How to Deal With it. The Workshop was directed towards doctors and nurses from different health sectors and schools, and in coordination with the Primary Health Care and Al Sadd Pediatric Emergency.

The Workshop was addressed first by Dr. Mohamed Al Hajri, A/ Manager of the Communicable Diseases at the Public Health Department, followed by Dr. Khalid Al Badr, Manager of Medical Specializations at
the Primary Health Department. Dr. Al Badr addressed the issue of any repercussions that might result from vaccination, and he described them as very unlikely (not exceeding one in a million). However, and as the SCH is keen on the well being of all people by making sure of the medical staff readiness, it organizes these periodical workshops and training sessions. He did not forget to thank all those who contributed to the A/H1N1 vaccination campaigns.
Dr. Abdullah Al Sa’adi, Consultant at Al Sadd Pediatric Emergency, gave a detailed presentation about the symptoms of severe allergy which might result from vaccination, together with the ways and means of dealing with them.
A video was shown during the Workshop in connection with the use of the ’Epipen’ which is an automatic injection that has been
recently made available in Qatar. This device saves a lot of suffering from sever allergy, and how to take him to hospital.
In his address to the Workshop, Dr. Mohamed Al Hajri reviewed the types of simple allergy problems that might follow vaccination which appear in the form of redness or light pain at the injection spot, or general feeling of fatigue with slight increase in temperature that will soon vanish. He also spoke about the severe and rare type of allergy which may occur due to different reasons like food or insect bites etc…Such allergy is eve rarer in the case of vaccination time and effort in case of any unforeseen complications due to vaccination or to other factors like food or medication.
