The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) organized a workshop yesterday on the Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) and AIDS. The workshop was addressed by Dr. Adnan Khan, the WHO expert. It was attended by 35 participants representing the different health sectors in Qatar.
The workshop comes as part of the Communicable Diseases Section efforts to arrange visits by experts to most facilities which provide medical services in the respective field. Dr. Khan will visit some of the primary healthcare centres, the dermatology and venereology clinic, the communicable diseases clinic at HMC, the Medical Commission and the medical clinics of QP.
Dr Mohamed Al Hajri, Community Medicine Consultant, explained that the participants presented their experiences regarding the STD’s and AIDS. He pointed that this exchange of expertise was one of the main objectives of the workshop. The participants also demonstrated to the international expert the status of medical services in the country. The workshop would also provide the participants with the latest developments in the field of STD’s and AIDS with the objective of increasing their knowledge as regards these diseases.
Dr. Al Hajri pointed to the prompt confidentiality with which HMC deals in handling the treatment of such diseases. He conclude by saying that the workshop was part of the continuous education program adopted by the SCH to upgrade the capabilities of those involved in each training activity.
